Welcome! This will be my blog about all things film and sometimes tv - things on a screen and musings thereon. I enjoy a wide variety of genres but will probably be focusing primarily on drama, thriller, horror, and scifi. This is something of a test post until I get some of my writings up here, but also by way of introduction, glad you're here, sit back and enjoy the show.
The blog title is a reference to the ubiquitous message on older VHS and DVDs, because evidently it distressed viewers unfamiliar with aspect ratios that widescreen movies were shown on square TVs with black bars at the top and bottom, so as not to cut off the sides of the movie. Now, I find that with the prevalence of widescreen TVs, finally replacing full-screen as the more standard format (especially for TV shows/series, which were slow to adapt to new viewing modes), older movies and TV shows often necessitate an aspect ratio adjustment of one's TV to avoid stretching the fullscreen format - thus, black bars on the left and right! So, wherever your black bars appear, embrace them.
